Are you a naturally empathetic, caring and compassionate Support Worker in the UK with experience of caring for people with learning disabilities?
Do you want a fulfilling career, where you can make a difference and change lives for the better in a culture of kindness and teamwork? Where you’ll be supported with development opportunities to grow you as a person and in your career?
Join Gresham House in Staplehurst as a Support Worker and provide care for people with severe learning disabilities, Autism and behaviours may be seen as challenging; where you’ll support and encourage them to lead a full and valued life, enabling them to live more independently.
You’ll be great with people – a real ‘people person’, able to communicate effectively – explaining yourself clearly in the right tone to suit the situation and be really good at understanding others (behaviours and expressions, as well as vocal). Having a good sense of humour and resilience, and a willingness to help residents with their personal hygiene are also important.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
You will join an inclusive, supportive team that works well together to provide care to people with learning disabilities and mental health conditions. Whether you have experience as a Care Assistant or Support Worker, you will use your knowledge and skills to help support people lead a valued and fulfilled life.
It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience and vigilance are important. But it is hugely rewarding to see people improve because of you; being able to do something today that they couldn’t do last week.
Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will use your excellent communication skills and experience as a Support Worker with a background in Learning Disabilities & Autism to provide care and support people through their care pathway.
Our rota includes weekdays and weekend shifts 7am - 2.30pm, and 2pm - 9.30pm to ensure a well-balanced team effort. This is a permanent, 35 contracted hours, full-time vacancy.
THIS ROLE IS AVAILABLE ONLY FOR A FEMALE SUPPORT WORKER TO ASSIST THE FEMALE RESIDENTS IN THE MOST EFFICIENT MANNER, INCLUDING THE PERSONAL HYGIENE.
