2:1 FEMALE SUPPORT WORKER, BASED IN A FAMILY HOME IN DODDINGTON
This role is for a *Female Support Worker to work with a delightful Teenager in her own home in Doddington Village (between Faversham and Sittingbourne).
Amy is a 17-year-old girl who lives with her parents and younger sibling. Amy has cerebral palsy meaning she has difficulty with movement, speech and feeding. She has epilepsy, though her seizures are controlled. Amy has a PEG for food and medication. She uses a hoist for all transfers and has specialist equipment at home. Despite these challenges, Amy is a happy girl who loves the company of others, being with her family, listening to music, playing with her iPad and having pamper sessions.
We are looking for an experienced carer/support worker to enable Amy to continue to enjoy life while also ensuring that she is happy, safe, supported and thriving. Amy needs a high level of support to meet all her personal care needs, as well as maintaining her home environment and administering her medication.
WHAT EXPERIENCE DO YOU NEED?
· We are looking for someone who has experience of working with children or adults with disabilities. This is essential.
· Having knowledge of PEG feeding is an advantage, though we can provide training on this if you do not have this experience. Similarly, experience of using a hoist is useful, but not essential as full training will be given.
You will be working in Amy’s home and thus you must always maintain confidentiality and privacy for Amy and her family.
Full training will be given in this specialist role, but it is essential that you are a positive person, who as well as being professional and dynamic, needs to be caring and kind in your approach.
