Description
Job Purpose To produce the amount of alcohol that meets product specifications, by operating the Fermentation plant units in the field in conjunction with the Distillation Operator and other Operators. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Monitors the performance and operates the Fermentation plant units and any additional plant areas as required) on a continual shift basis using on-plant measurements to produce the required quantity and quality of alcohol in the Fermented wash. Makes adjustments and alterations to the process variables in conjunction with the Distillation Operator, to ensure that the plant units are operating as per procedure to produce the required alcohol quantity of the desired specification and quality. Reports all quality deviations and irregularities on process or equipment to the Distillation Operator. Collection of operational samples as per schedule and conducting analysis when required. Assisting with collection of samples on ad hoc basis. Assist in preparing yeast conditioning batches by adding yeast and nutrients as required for make-up into fermentation batches. Ensures that the vessels in the Pre-fermentation and Fermentation plant are cleaned as per prescribed procedures and ensure that there are adequate chemicals available for conducting cleaning exercises. These steps ensure that good fermentation efficiency is achieved. Transfer of fusel oil into fusel oil bulk storage tank. Ensuring that all storage tanks/pits level control is done as such to prevent overflow Ensuring sealing water tanks in plant units have sufficient and clean water. Conducting regular nosing and conducting appropriate dilution of alcohol for nosing at required Intervals. Qualifications And Experience Diploma/Certificate in Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Food Technology or Chemical Engineering. Advanced Level Certificate in Mathematics or Science. 1–2years of experience working in a fermentation or manufacturing environment is preferred.
