Description

VEA Connect is actively seeking a certified and experienced Fiber Optic Splice Technician who can hit the ground running—no training, no hand-holding. You’ll join our growing field operations team responsible for turnkey FTTx builds and emergency fiber restoration projects. If you’re confident with a fusion splicer in your hands and can document work like a pro, we want you on our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform fusion and mechanical splicing of fiber optic cables with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Conduct OTDR, light source/power meter, and live fiber testing to verify continuity and quality of splices.
  • Read and interpret splice schematics and fiber assignments.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate splice documentation, test results, and daily production logs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues affecting network performance during both scheduled and emergency work.
  • Work safely and efficiently in underground, aerial, and indoor environments.
  • Collaborate with project managers and field crews to ensure timely and clean project delivery.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on splicing experience (no entry-level candidates).
  • Must hold a valid Fiber Optic Certification (e.g., FOA CFOT, ETA, or equivalent).
  • Proficient with industry-standard testing equipment (OTDRs, power meters, VFLs, etc.).
  • Experience with aerial, underground, and inside plant (ISP) environments preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
  • Must be able to work after-hours and weekends for on-call/emergency restoration work as needed.
  • Willingness to travel for work between states for project assignments and emergency response.
  • Clean driving record required.
