Description:
A Fiber Optic Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic systems, including cables and related equipment. These technicians play a crucial role in ensuring high-speed communication networks, such as internet, television, and telephone services, work efficiently.

Responsibilities:
- Installation: Installing fiber optic cables in both residential and commercial settings. This may include indoor and outdoor installations.
- Splicing & Termination: Splicing and terminating fiber optic cables to connect systems and ensure signals are transmitted correctly. This requires knowledge of different splicing techniques and tools.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Using specialized tools like OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) and power meters to test the performance of fiber optic cables. Troubleshooting any issues related to signal loss, damaged cables, or faulty connections.
- Maintenance: Regular maintenance of existing fiber optic systems to ensure they are functioning properly. This includes cleaning connectors, checking for wear and tear, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Documentation: Keeping accurate records of installation work, maintenance, and repairs, including cable maps, service logs, and client details.
- Safety: Adhering to safety protocols and guidelines when working with high-tech equipment, often in confined spaces or on elevated platforms.
- Customer Service: Communicating effectively with clients to understand their needs, explain installation processes, and provide updates on work status.
- Collaboration: Working closely with other technicians, engineers, or contractors to complete large-scale network installations or upgrades.
- Upgrades and Repair: Repairing damaged cables and upgrading outdated systems to improve network performance and reliability.
