Location: The individual in this role will support services and work in the field throughout Wichita and surrounding communities, with required visits to our Buhler office for trainings, meetings and equipment. Opportunity: We are growing! Our team is seeking a motivated Fiber Technician to support our expanding business operations and connect surrounding communities. Key Responsibilities (not limited to): Perform independent fiber-to-the-home installations and ensure prompt repairs. Install and repair residential and business VoIP services. Diagnose and resolve customer connectivity and service problems. Provide an outstanding in-home/business customer experience through friendly, patient, and knowledgeable service regarding FTTP, gateways, and WiFi. Demonstrate a working knowledge of aerial and underground fiber optic networks. Install service drops from the terminal to customer homes or businesses. Operate a bucket truck in a safe and efficient manner for aerial installations and repairs, strictly following all Department of Transportation (DOT) and OSHA safety guidelines. Adhere to all safety protocols as outlined in the company handbook. Desired Attributes: A strong aptitude for learning and a desire to grow your skills and knowledge. Demonstrates a strong safety focus and consistently maintains safety measures. Experience/Knowledge Required: High School diploma or equivalent. 2+ years of relevant work experience. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with no restrictions. Ability to participate in an on-call rotation, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays. Comfortable and able to work in both underground and aerial environments (e.g., climbing ladders up to 32ft and operating a bucket truck). Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 lbs. Able to enter and safely operate a bucket truck with a weight limit of 300 lbs. Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work on Saturdays and/or Sundays. Preferences: General knowledge of telecommunications services, including internet, wireless, and phone systems.
