Role Summary: The successful candidate will be responsible for building, inspecting, troubleshooting, and maintaining the integrity of the company’s fibre optic network infrastructure, including blown fibre solutions. This role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of service delivery. Responsibilities: Perform fibre floating (4f, 12f, 72f, 144f & 216f cables) and fusion splicing. Conduct OTDR, power meter and light source testing. Install and maintain equipment for L2, L3, Wireless & FTTH networks. Carry out maintenance on fibre routes, POPs, manholes, SDCs and FTTH complexes. Interpret engineering plans and vendor specifications for installations and repairs. Perform blown fibre installations and fibre splicing operations for new builds, rearrangements, and repairs. Locate, test, and repair defects in fiber optic cables and related hardware. Ensure accurate record-keeping and completion of all job documentation and time sheets. Conduct preventive maintenance, route audits, and database updates. Provide guidance and training to junior technicians. Adhere to all company health, safety, and quality standards. Qualifications Required: Matric (Grade 12). Certified Fibre Splicing (Fusion Splicing) and OTDR Testing. Health and Safety knowledge/training. Valid driver’s license and clear criminal record. Work Experience: 3–5 years’ experience in fibre installation, maintenance, and testing. Knowledge of AC/DC power and fibre construction methods. Competence with fibre optic test equipment and interpreting cable design prints. Computer literacy and working knowledge of TCP/IP, VoIP, and Hosted PBX deployments. Excellent problem-solving, time management, and communication skills. Ability to work independently, including in confined spaces and at heights.
