About the role We’re scaling fast, and to meet growing demand from both customers and internal teams, we’re expanding our Field Application Engineering team. Today, we are four FAEs. Soon, we’ll be eight, split into two focused units: one driving internal testing and system validation, the other leading customer-facing work like demos, onboarding, and training. Together, this team is responsible for one thing above all else: making sure our technical works where it actually matters. As a Field Application Engineer at Six Robotics, you sit at the intersection of product, engineering, and operators. You’ll take cutting-edge autonomy software out into the field, where constraints are real, stakes are high, and feedback is immediate. What you learn in the field directly shapes what we build next. The role requires extensive travel (approximately 150 days per year), both nationally and internationally. This is not a desk role. You will spend most of your time in the field, working side-by-side with operators, testing systems under real conditions, troubleshooting when things don’t go as planned, and making sure every deployment delivers real operational value. What you will do Own customer integrations: take part in technical pre-sales, lead onboarding, capture requirements, and ensure our swarm software is seamlessly integrated and fully operational. Turn needs into plans: create integration steps, checklists, and test procedures that guide both customers and our teams. Run field tests: plan and execute acceptance tests and trials, analyze telemetry, and feed results back into product and engineering. Troubleshoot issues: diagnose and resolve problems across hardware, firmware, networking, and software, often in time-critical situations. Deliver customer demos: plan and execute high-quality demos that communicate the value of our technology to customers and partners. Train and onboarding users: ensure operators understand how to use our systems effectively through structured training and hands-on support. Document and scale: build playbooks, runbooks, and internal best practices to support customers and future field engineers. Be the technical face in the field: act as the bridge between customers, operators, and internal teams, ensuring alignment and continuous improvement. What we are looking for We’re looking for a Field Application Engineer who is as comfortable in front of people as they are working hands-on with complex systems in the field. You are outgoing, robust, and adaptable, someone who thrives in dynamic environments where plans change and challenges arise. You bring structure to complexity, communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and take ownership from problem to solution. You’re a creative problem solver who isn’t afraid to get your hands dirty, whether that means debugging systems in the field, setting up hardware, or working through unexpected issues under pressure. At the same time, you are confident in explaining complex concepts, building customer trust, and representing Six Robotics externally. To be a strong fit for the role, we believe you: Have a strong technical foundation: ability to set up, configure, and troubleshoot complex systems across networking, hardware, and software. Are structured and reliable: capable of managing multiple workstreams, stakeholders, and field activities without losing clarity or momentum. Is an excellent communicator: able to explain complex technical concepts to operators, customers, and internal teams. Are hands-on and proactive: you take initiative, solve problems end-to-end, and are comfortable working directly with hardware and systems in the field. Are willing to travel extensively: able and motivated to spend around 150 days per year in the field, both nationally and internationally. Are fluent in English; Norwegian is a strong advantage. German or French is a plus. In addition to the above, experience with UAVs, robotics, defence, or similar complex systems would be valuable. Familiarity with military organizations or prior field-based, customer-facing technical work is a plus. Basic programming skills or the ability to read code would also be beneficial. As a small team, every hire matters, and we can’t afford to get this one wrong. Here’s what to expect: Phone screening interview with one of our recruiters to get to know you better (30 min). Meet & Greet with someone from the team to get to know each other better (60 min). Structured case interview to understand role fit and potential (90 min). Final interview with Head of People to assess cultural fit (45 min). Reference check followed by an offer if everything goes well. The application deadline is 10 April 2026. All employees at Six Robotics are required to undergo a security clearance (Sikkerhetsklarering) due to our close collaboration with the Norwegian Armed Forces.
