Terra Archaeology is a leading provider of archaeological consulting services across British Columbia. For over 20 years, we have served a diverse and growing client base, including First Nations, federal and provincial agencies, private corporations, and landowners.
As we continue to expand, we are looking for skilled Field Directors who are proactive, can apply sound professional judgment, and excel both independently and within team settings. This role involves a combination of fieldwork and office/lab responsibilities, with positions available in our Victoria, Richmond, Kamloops, or Williams Lake offices.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in consulting archaeology in BC
  • Field Director designation from the Archaeology Branch
  • In-depth knowledge of BC archaeology and the Heritage Conservation Act
  • Ability to work in varying terrains and weather conditions
  • Willingness to travel/work throughout the province
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean record

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Frequent standing, walking/hiking, bending, kneeling, and lifting are part of this role.

Responsibilities
  • Lead archaeological field crews
  • Mentor junior staff
  • Participate in all aspects of archaeological surveys and excavations
  • Contribute to and author archaeological reports
  • Assist with artifact analysis and curation
  • Grow your skills across field, office, and lab settings to take on increased responsibilities
