Description
About The Outreach Team The Outreach Team is a premier national field firm. We partner with organizations working to solve some of the biggest problems facing our society -- from protecting human rights to fighting climate change -- and help them build the resources they need to make an impact. We are a people-powered enterprise; our campaigns are effective because we hire diverse teams of talented people, invest in our staff, and treat them well. We are hiring Deputy Directors to manage our remote voter contact offices. Directors will recruit, train, and manage a team of remote callers and texters to speak to potential voters about candidates in the upcoming election and then help get them out to vote in November. Directors will work within their team to build an office to scale from the ground up. All directors are expected to train staff while leading by example themselves; they must also communicate long and short term goals to staff and manage campaign reporting. Over the past few decades achieving the American dream–work hard and you’ll be able to give your family a good life–has become more and more difficult. That’s why we need elected officials who will stand up for working Americans. We’ll be making phone calls and sending text messages to potential voters in key states across the country. By educating voters on the candidates and then turning out those voters, we can ensure that we elect candidates who will support workers and address the issues that impact us most. We are hiring for positions starting in late June. This position runs through November 2024. This position is remote, however, we are not able to hire staff based in the following states: Alabama, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, or West Virginia. Management Responsibilities: Manage a team of 40-50 hourly staff who will be calling or texting voters across the country to speak with them about the upcoming elections Set goals and hold staff accountable Train and provide ongoing motivation and support to staff Identify, promote, and train a leadership team Build a diverse team where staff feel respected, while fostering a culture of equity and justice Implement quality control measures to ensure integrity of the work Make calls or send texts a few days a week yourself to lead by example and help drive office goals Maintain a healthy and safe working environment for all staff Manage administrative duties, including reporting data, record keeping, processing payroll, and distribution of materials Qualifications: Must have Experience leading calling or texting operations, ideally for a political program Leadership experience, ability to motivate, grow, and manage a large team. Eagerness to lead from the front and call or text several days a week. Extreme attention to detail and a proven ability to instill that quality in others. Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills. Strong passion for community organizing and fostering civic engagement. Track record of equity and inclusion. Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends. Comfortable working remotely over Zoom Nice-to-have Experience managing staff remotely Community or issue-based campaign experience Experience running paid canvasses or managing paid employees Experience working in underserved or marginalized communities Facilitation experience Experience with phone- and/or text-banking software (CallHub is a plus) Salary: The salary range for this position is $1,057 - $1,412 per week. We offer a generous benefits package, including paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance, and hands-on training. At the end of the campaign, there may be opportunities for advancement and bonuses. At The Outreach Team, we prioritize equity and inclusion. We are an equal opportunity employer and we strongly encourage Black, indigenous, people of color, women, people with previous felony convictions, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and others who identify with underrepresented groups to apply.
