About the job

The Social Work Field Education Coordinator works closely with on-campus and distance/online students across Canada. In addition, the Coordinator may work with international field placements. The primary responsibility of the Coordinator is to work closely with students and agencies to identify, strategize and secure field placements that match student career aspirations.


The Coordinator is also responsible for maintaining and building relationships with community organizations, agencies, schools and government ministries to provide learning environments and opportunities for practicum students to grow professionally.


This position requires a Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work plus 5 years social work experience.


Knowledge Requirements Include


  • Knowledge of School’s Mission Statement learning outcomes that emphasize decolonial equity, social justice and anti-oppressive social work approaches to working with communities, families and individuals;
  • Managing field education requests for different program options in the BSW and MSW programs;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard office technology and their application including diverse data base systems, MS Office and calendar application;
  • Knowledge and awareness of trends in social work education and practice environments;
  • Personal skills in counselling, mentoring and advising at an advanced practice level;
  • Policy analysis and procedure development;
  • Community development knowledge and expertise;
  • Public relations expertise.
