FIELD ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The basic function of the Field Engineer is to learn from and assist the Superintendent with coordinating and supervising craft employee activities.  The Field Engineer reports to and is directly accountable to the Superintendent. REQUIREMENTS Education •    Required:  High School Diploma or equivalent plus formal journeyman carpentry training and/or supervisory training courses and 4 years field experience. •    Preferred:  Bachelor of Science in Building Construction or Civil Engineering. Experience •    Required:  Internship with field experience •    Preferred:  Internship and/or 2 years field experience. Skills / Knowledge / Abilities •    Excellent communication and organizational skills •    Working knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, and methods). •    Thorough knowledge of all safety requirements. •    The ability to motivate employees and handle different situations. Physical Requirements •    Must be able to see well (either naturally or with correction). •    Coordinate the movements of eyes, hands, and fingers with full use of hands, arms and fingers. •    Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding. •    Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or work at any height. •    Lift and carry objects weighting up to 50 pounds and occasionally more. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS •    Assist with supervision of craft personnel to ensure project is constructed by design, within budget and on schedule. •    Assist in planning work schedule, determining manpower levels, material quantities, equipment requirements, etc. •    Monitor personnel for compliance with safety and working procedures. •    Advise Superintendent of all potential problems and assist in problem solving. •    Perform additional assignments as required.  
Responsibilities
The Field Engineer assists the Superintendent by coordinating and supervising craft employee activities to ensure the project is constructed according to design, within budget, and on schedule. This includes assisting in planning work schedules, monitoring safety compliance, and advising the Superintendent on potential problems.
