Position: Field Engineer Datacom Location: Christchurch Security Requirements: Citizens and Residents of New Zealand only. About the Role This role is challenging, interesting and integral to the service we provide to our clients. As a Field Engineer, you will support a variety of IT environments and provide on-site assistance to our clients. Your responsibilities will include delivering desktop and engineering support, performing on-site installations, and managing any necessary diagnostics, troubleshooting, servicing, and repairs of complex equipment and systems. You will work closely with clients, so exceptional communication skills and a strong customer service focus are essential. Professionalism, combined with solid technical expertise, will be key to your success in this role. We are an agile company, and are keen to respond to customer, technology and internal stakeholders’ changing requirements and this can mean we evolve in our roles to meet those needs. **Please note: Due to the security requirements of our customers, this role is only available to New Zealand Citizens and/or Permanent Residents having lived in NZ for a minimum of 5 consecutive years ** What You’ll Do: Some of your responsibilities may include: Onsite support across a number of clients (varying locations) – valid Full NZ driver’s license and your own vehicle may be required. Serving as the company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects. Building and supporting end-user devices (PCs, laptops, thin clients, printers, mobiles, tablets). Diagnosing faults / troubleshooting / problem solving. Windows desktop and server and Network support. Building productive working relationships across a variety of colleagues, clients, and suppliers. May include any aspect of field support, and is not limited to system hardware and software, PCs, and networking/wireless networking. Flexibility to work/travel after hours &/or on-call on occasion, if required. What You’ll Bring: To be successful in this role you will ideally have had experience in a similar role, with a wide range of general IT skills. You will demonstrate excellent problem solving and communication skills. You’ll need to be a self-starter, with good organisation skills and attention to detail. You should generally bring: 2+ years of relevant IT experience. Experience with installation, diagnoses and repair of pc systems, end user devices and software (e.g. laptops, desktops, tables, Intune, O365, current Windows Operating Systems) Working familiarity with server and networking equipment Working familiarity with Point of Sale and Eftpos Technology Ability to work on assignments of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organisational goals. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to translate user needs into a technical solution.
