Description

Electrical & Instrumentation Field Engineer reports to Project Field Engineer and is responsible for activities relating to construction engineering within the electrical and instrumentation and controls disciplines. Duties include interpreting electrical design drawings and specifications, cable installations and terminations, field verification of materials, and technical direction to field electrical and instrumentation personnel. In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. 

 

This role operates on a 2:1 roster, FIFO to Weipa, QLD. Local applicants encouraged to apply.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with engineering on constructability and design issues relating to the electrical and instrumentation discipline such as installation and testing of electrical systems, lighting systems, high voltage equipment and grounding, and DCS systems.
  • Establish an electrical design/field engineering working relationship and lines of communication with the Project Engineer, including agreement on electrical and instrumentation engineering deliverables and overall construction application configuration management.
  • Responsible for quantity take-off, control, tracking, reporting and forecasting for electrical and instrumentation discipline.
  • Specify the electrical criteria for construction of temporary construction facilities as required.
  • Direct the preparation of requisitions for field procured materials, material substitution, services and equipment including panels, motors and switchgear.
  • Approve field requisitions as delegated by the Project Field Engineer.
  • Review material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct electrical and instrumentation materials.
  • Coordinate and monitor the interfaces for electrical and instrumentation data exchange to support the construction automation plan and the project controls program requirements at the jobsite.
  • Develop and manage the electrical and instrumentation construction quality program.
  • Direct preparation of cost estimates for electrical and instrumentation construction activities and coordinate the preparation of cost reports, forecast and progress reports.
  • Coordinate with Field Supervision and Subcontractors to plan/support construction schedules.
  • Plan and recommend electrical and instrumentation procedures to be implemented by Field Supervision to ensure construction operations are within requirements of engineering design and specifications.
