Scandinavian and/or Polish language skills are an advantage Description The onshore gas compression project at Hammerfest LNG aims to ensure sufficient gas flow from the reservoir to maintain high gas export levels and secure long-term operations beyond 2030. As part of the electrification initiative, existing gas turbines will be replaced with electricity supplied from the power grid from 2030. This development requires extensive modifications both at Melkøya and onshore facilities. Key project elements include: Installation of three major modules at the plant: Gas compressor module Substation module Electric steam boiler module Extensive modification work at the existing facilities Construction of a tunnel for power cables from Hyggevatn to Meland Installation and burial of subsea power cables from Meland to Melkøya Role Summary The Field Engineer is responsible for ensuring that construction activities within surface protection and passive fire protection (PFP) are properly planned, qualified, executed, and documented in accordance with contract specifications. The role reports to Construction and works in close collaboration with the Project Material Lead Engineer, who holds decision authority within the discipline (e.g. NCRs, TQs, and design-related issues). A strong focus on quality, HSE, schedule, and cost-efficient execution is essential. Key Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, and follow up construction activities related to surface protection and PFP Monitor contractor fabrication and site activities with focus on: Quality Schedule adherence Cost efficiency Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Track work progress against plans and schedules, identify deviations, and propose corrective actions Participate in engineering and construction reviews to ensure feasible and cost-effective solutions Ensure contractor site personnel are qualified in accordance with project requirements Supervise inspectors within the site team Plan and participate in audits and verifications as required Ensure all required procedure qualifications are completed Review selected contractor drawings and technical documentation Provide technical input to discipline-related decisions (NCRs, TQs, design issues) Ensure protection and preservation of systems and equipment Verify that fabrication documentation and records are prepared and issued in accordance with project requirements Report deviations and problem areas to the Construction Lead Ensure construction completion in preparation for handover to commissioning Participate in area and system punch-out activities and monitor punch status Competence Requirements Minimum 5 years’ experience with insulation activities during the construction phase Minimum 10 years’ experience with NORSOK insulation and/or surface protection work Experience from construction and hook-up phases is preferred Strong ability to manage high workloads in a complex project environment
