Description

The primary duty of the assistant coach is to instruct student-athletes in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport. Additionally, the assistant coach will assist the head coach in coaching, planning, organization, directing and implementing all phases of a Division I Field Hockey program as well as assist in all areas of team performance including pre-season, post-season training, practice and competition. The assistant coach will work closely with support staff for peak performance of the student-athletes as well as their development and academic success.
The assistant coach will coordinate field hockey recruiting activities, arrange on and off-campus evaluation and recruitment of student-athletes, organize unofficial and official visits of recruits while monitoring progress through the NCAA eligibility center, assist with all scouting and match preparation, assist with clinic and booster functions, develop and maintain alumni relations and organize alumni events, assist in the day-today operations including but not limited to NCAA paperwork, academic monitoring, travel plans and itineraries, equipment and budget management, practice planning, and all other duties assigned by the head coach consistent with the mission of the department.
The assistant coach is responsible for adhering to all department and university policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Mid-American Conference and the NCAA

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree by date of appointment.
  • Collegiate and/or international playing or coaching experience at a competitive level.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of NCAA and MAC rules and regulations.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree.
  • One year of collegiate coaching experience (preferably at the Division I level).
