Description Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation (DESC) is seeking a dynamic, field-based workforce professional to serve as a Field Implementation Strategist. This role leads the development and onsite execution of employer-led and union-sponsored workforce initiatives across Detroit. Working directly with employers, labor unions, Career Centers, and training providers, the Strategist is responsible for designing and implementing customized training models, such as apprenticeships, On-the-Job Training (OJT), Going Pro, and customized upskilling, while ensuring compliance and performance. This is a hands-on, field-intensive role for someone who thrives on collaboration, strategic planning, and execution. Requirements Key Responsibilities: Strategic Field Engagement Serve as the frontline DESC representative to employers, union partners, and training providers to scope, plan, and execute workforce strategies. Conduct onsite consultations and assessments to identify training needs and workforce challenges. Translate employer and union feedback into actionable work-based learning solutions. Program Design & Implementation Lead development of employer-sponsored training initiatives including OJT, registered apprenticeships, incumbent worker training, and customized models. Develop job descriptions, training plans, pre-screening criteria, and performance benchmarks with partners. Coordinate and conduct site visits, execute agreements, and manage project documentation and compliance. Cross-Agency Coordination Partner with Career Centers, DESC's centralized employer engagement team, and the Detroit at Work network to ensure alignment and referral coordination. Support event execution such as job fairs, industry roundtables, or National Apprenticeship Week events. Act as a resource and technical expert to Business Services Representatives and Career Coaches. Compliance & Reporting Maintain program integrity through accurate tracking, Launchpad documentation, and monitoring of federal/state/local compliance requirements. Provide timely, data-informed progress updates and strategic recommendations to DESC leadership. Qualifications: Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Workforce Development, Labor Relations, Business, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience). Minimum 5 years of experience in workforce development, employer engagement, apprenticeship coordination, or labor-management partnership roles. Demonstrated experience implementing union-sponsored or employer-led training programs. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Deep knowledge of apprenticeship systems, OJT models, and union-employer training frameworks. High proficiency in relationship management and field-based stakeholder coordination. Excellent communication, project management, and organizational skills. Familiarity with CRM platforms, workforce tracking systems, and reporting tools. Must be self-directed, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities across partners. Performance Metrics (Within First Year): Project Activation: Successfully launch or expand at least 8 employer-led or union-sponsored training projects. Onsite Engagements: Conduct a minimum of 40 field-based consultations or site visits with employer/union partners. Program Participation: Support placement of at least 100 Detroit job seekers in work-based learning opportunities. Compliance: Achieve 100% compliance on documentation and program execution audits. Partner Satisfaction: Receive average stakeholder satisfaction score of 4.5/5 or higher from partner survey results. Requirements · Must possess a valid State of Michigan driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance; field work is required for this position.
