Our innovations, knowledge and initiatives enable countries to foster good forest governance, mitigate and adapt to climate change and achieve the UN Global Goals. We operate in the Asia-Pacific region, with country offices in Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand and Viet Nam. In Cambodia, we support the development of community forestry, community protected areas and community fisheries. Our activities extend from the community to the national level and focus on enhancing climate change mitigation and adaptation, promoting gender equality and social inclusion, improving governance and respect for rights, and increasing economic benefits for community forest user groups. We are currently seeking two Field Officers to support the implementation of the “Community Forestry Restoration and Protection” project. The positions will be based in Kampong Thom and Preah Vihear, Cambodia. The contract will cover a period of 17 months, from 1 December 2025 to 30 April 2027. About the project The ‘Community Restoration and Protection’ project aims to develop and implement restoration and protection plans while strengthening the capacity of community forestry members and government officials in forest restoration and protection. The project consists of four interlinked outputs: i.Restoration and protection plans developed for six community forests ii.Enhanced capacities for implementing restoration and protection plans iii.Successful implementation of restoration and protection plans in six community forests iv.Effective monitoring and adaptive management Tasks and duties The Field Officer will be a member of the RECOFTC Cambodia Office and will work under the direct supervision of the Provincial Community Forestry Partnership Coordinator and the overall guidance of the Field Operations Manager. The Field Officer will be responsible for planning, implementing and reporting on the progress of restoration and protection activities in the target community forests. Specific tasks and duties include: Review documents related to community forest restoration and protection, including community forest management plans, regulations, patrolling plan, credit scheme documents and business plans Facilitate field assessments with target community forests to collect data and additional information for preparing restoration and protection plans Under the guidance of the Provincial Community Forestry Partnership Coordinator, draft restoration and protection plans for the target community forests, ensuring alignment with existing community forest management plans Support the development of training curricula on forest catchment restoration and protection tailored to the specific needs of target community forests Conduct training for community forestry committees and members on restoration techniques, such as agroforestry, tree planting and silviculture, and on revenue-generating conservation activities, such as apiculture, ecotourism and non-timber forest product value addition Provide technical assistance to management committees and members of target community forests to ensure the effective implementation of restoration and protection activities in line with project objectives and good practices Conduct regular field visits and facilitate community consultations to assess the effectiveness of interventions and apply adaptive management based on findings and feedback Coordinate and share project experiences, lessons learned and good practices with the community forestry network and the Provincial Community Forestry Programme Coordination Committees in other provinces Participate in monitoring, evaluation and learning activities under the project and the RECOFTC Cambodia country programme activities Prepare budget requests for field activities and ensure proper monitoring, verification and clearance of related expenditures Perform other duties as assigned by the Country Director of RECOFTC Cambodia Qualifications and experience The Field Officer must have the following qualifications and experience: Essential • Bachelor’s degree in forestry, natural resource management, or a related field, preferably with a focus on environmental and/or rural development • At least three years of professional experience in community forestry, community protected areas, community fisheries, or community-based natural resource management • Strong ability to communicate effectively and maintain constructive relationships with government agencies, local authorities and community stakeholders • Experience in planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, reporting, coordination and facilitation, including the development of training and extension materials • Experience in adult learning, training delivery, facilitation, and application of participatory tools and methodologies when working with rural communities • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to identify and solve problems efficiently • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Good command of written and spoken Khmer and English • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook • Willingness to travel regularly within the Province, including overnight stays in rural communities and occasionally to other provinces and Phnom Penh • Cambodian national Desirable • Knowledge of the land and forestry legislation and related regulations of Cambodia • Practical experience in implementing community forestry guidelines • Knowledge and experience in mapping and spatial data collection using GPS and GIS • Experience working with rural communities in partnership with the Forestry Administration, nongovernmental organizations and local authorities RECOFTC’s core values At RECOFTC, our core values are the foundation of our culture and guide all our work.
