Qualifications Job Description Overview: The Repair Technician Apprentice will perform duties in a safe manner, to include, but not limited to supporting with inspection of railcars, various railcar repairs, heating, cutting, and welding as determined from inspections under general supervision of supervisor. In addition, this role will document work completed on Billing Repair Cards/Work Orders.   The purpose of this position is to become proficient and knowledgeable in Railcar Repair Technician responsibilities and gain the skills needed to advance to the next railcar repair technician level.   Job Requirements:   · Support in all functions of the location and aids Repair Technicians and Lead · Keep repair track/shop tools organized · Scrap and trash detail · Stenciling · Change Brake Shoes · Repair securements · Gather materials needed by Repairman to make repairs · Inspect inbound materials and stock inventory · Operate forklift as needed · Other duties as assigned to assist the rail division · Travel when needed to perform mobile railcar repairs · Must be able to work at elevated heights.   Education and/or Experience Required (including certifications):   · High School Diploma/GED   Railcar Repair Experience AAR Interchange Repairs/M1002 · Basic math, reading comprehension, and writing skills · Basic knowledge and general use of hand and power tools required · Basic Computer skills · Must have a valid drivers license · Must be able to pass a physical, drug screen, and background check   Preferred Requirements · Mechanical, welding, or valve knowledge/experience a plus       Other (i.e., physical requirements, travel, etc. that is not covered above):   · Must be able to stoop for extended periods and routinely move from kneeling to standing positions · Ability to work M-F 6:00am-2:30pm with mandatory overtime (OT after normal shift and weekends) · Must be able to perform overhead work for extended periods · Lifting - (vertically) 50 lbs. vertical lift from 0 inches to 36 inches from the floor x 5 · Pushing/Pulling – 50 lbs. for a distance of 10ft x 5 · Confined Access – Access space with a height of 24 inches x 1 · Repetitive Posture – Forward bend to reach a point six inches from the floor x 5 · Crawl – Forward ten feet x 1 · Climbing – Vertical ladder 4ft x 4 · Must be able to work in extreme temperature environments.
