The Agronomic Field Research Intern will support the PURIS Seeds team in advancing the development of high-performing, non-GMO pea and soybean varieties that power our plant-based food system. You’ll work hands-on in research plots, greenhouses, and labs to collect data, analyze traits, and contribute to projects that strengthen the connection between sustainable farming and future food innovation. Pay Rate/Range: $20.00 Pay Frequency: Biweekly Work Location: Oskaloosa – Fully In Person Time Period: Summer 2026 Travel: None Responsbilities Assist with planting, maintaining, and harvesting seed research plots and greenhouse trials. Collect and record agronomic and phenotypic data, including plant health, yield, and quality metrics. Support seed preparation, cleaning, and sample labeling for ongoing trials. Help analyze research data and summarize findings for internal reporting and presentation. Collaborate with agronomists and scientists to test new breeding lines and evaluate seed performance across environments. Maintain clean, organized, and safe workspaces in field and laboratory settings. How You’ll Grow Gain hands-on experience in plant breeding, field trial management, and data collection. Learn how crop development connects to the larger plant-based food manufacturing process. Build skills in agricultural research methods, data management, and scientific reporting. Comfortable working outdoors in variable conditions and performing physical tasks. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data collection. Ability to work independently and collaboratively on research projects. Interest in plant genetics, seed technology, and sustainable agriculture.
