    Experience: 3 – 5 years’ experience within the commercial construction field in a safety advisory or coordinator role.
    Travel: Travel and own vehicle required.

Responsibilities

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the Manager – Health & Safety, this position is responsible for providing field support with a primary focus on administrating the health and safety management system. The position operates in a high paced environment, building relationships with multiple stakeholders including Superintendents, Project Managers and sub contractors. The role is primarily field based supporting projects in Edmonton and the immediate surrounding area.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct regular site safety inspections and hazard assessments
  • Recommend and assist with implementation of corrective actions and controls
  • Assist with site risk mitigation checklist planning, including crane lifts, confined space, ground disturbance and fall protection systems
  • Assist with site emergency response planning
  • Develop safe work practices and safety job procedures
  • Provide general site safety guidance and support
  • Lead incident investigations, utilizing DNV SCAT
  • Lead site toolbox safety meetings
  • Conduct onsite quality review of Supervision safety documentation
  • Implement or recommend disciplinary action where non-compliance is observed
  • Provide coaching on safety legislation and Delnor safety program to Supervision
  • Assist with annual COR audits
  • Conduct internal training, where qualified
  • Attend project and client meetings, when required
  • Able to work in a high-paced environment
  • Liaison between the field and project managers
  • Additional tasks, as assigned
