We’re seeking a skilled and motivated Field Sampling Technician III to support environmental sampling, groundwater monitoring, and water quality testing in Plano, TX. In this role, you will perform advanced field sampling and measurement activities, independently manage complex or high-priority sampling assignments, and help ensure regulatory compliance, sample integrity, and accurate environmental data collection. You will also troubleshoot composite sampling equipment and support groundwater and site-specific monitoring programs while coordinating with laboratory and operations teams to ensure successful project execution. What You’ll Do Perform advanced environmental sampling and water quality testing in accordance with regulatory requirements and company procedures Conduct sampling at water treatment facilities, distribution systems, groundwater monitoring wells, landfill monitoring sites, and other regulated environments Perform groundwater monitoring, including purging and pumping monitoring wells using approved techniques Deploy, program, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain composite and automated sampling equipment Perform field measurements and environmental monitoring, documenting observations and field data accurately Maintain sample custody, preservation, and chain-of-custody documentation to ensure regulatory compliance Troubleshoot complex field issues and implement solutions within scope of training Prepare and verify sample containers, preservation, labeling, and documentation prior to laboratory delivery Coordinate with laboratory teams, supervisors, and client representatives to support sampling schedules and service requirements Prepare field equipment, sampling kits, and supplies for daily operations Perform vehicle and equipment inspections and maintenance to support safe field operations Perform other duties as assigned Requirements What We’re Looking For High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, chemistry, biology, or related field preferred 2–4 years of environmental field services or sampling experience, including operation of composite or automated sampling equipment and troubleshooting field issues Demonstrated experience performing groundwater monitoring, environmental sampling, or water quality testing Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic field documentation systems Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record What We Offer Competitive compensation Medical, dental, and vision coverage 401(k) with company match Employer-paid life, AD&D, and disability insurance Paid time off, sick leave, and paid holidays Paid parental leave Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Tuition reimbursement and professional development support Work Schedule, Travel & Physical Requirements Full-time, field-based position Daily local travel to client sites and field locations, including extended driving in varying weather conditions and terrain Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather and environmental conditions Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, lifting, and driving throughout the workday Ability to lift, carry, and transport equipment and materials weighing up to 70 pounds Regular exposure to environmental elements, industrial environments, chemicals, uneven terrain, and strong odors associated with wastewater and environmental sampling Ability to work extended hours, evenings, or weekends as needed to support operational needs Our Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion At SPL, we believe that a diverse team is a strong team.
