  Position Title: Operations Field Sergeant Company: Kates Detective Agency Department: Operations Reports To: Director of Operations / Field Commander Employment Type: Hourly ---------------------------------------- POSITION OVERVIEW The Operations Field Sergeant plays a critical leadership role in driving field performance, enforcing standards, and ensuring operational excellence. This position is ideal for a seasoned security professional who thrives in fast-paced environments, leads by example, and is committed to accountability, safety, and team development. ---------------------------------------- WHAT YOU’LL DO Lead & Develop Teams * Supervise and mentor field personnel to strengthen decision-making and performance * Address performance gaps while recognizing and rewarding excellence * Promote professionalism, accountability, and teamwork across all assignments Manage Incidents & Field Response * Respond to and take command of field incidents requiring supervisory oversight * Coordinate resolution efforts and escalate when appropriate * Document and communicate outcomes clearly to leadership Conduct Site Inspections * Perform routine inspections of personnel, uniforms, firearms, and equipment * Ensure smooth shift transitions and operational continuity * Review and approve reports; address any equipment or compliance issues Oversee Daily Operations * Provide real-time support and direction to field staff * Maintain accurate Supervisor Management Logs * Ensure adherence to company standards and operational directives Ensure Compliance * Enforce company policies and Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) requirements * Resolve conflicts through proper chain of command ---------------------------------------- WHAT YOU BRING Experience * 6+ years in the security industry * 4–5 years in a supervisory or leadership role Requirements * High school diploma or equivalent * Active PERC card (Illinois) * Valid Illinois driver’s license with insurable driving record Preferred Credentials * FOID card and firearms qualifications (if applicable) ---------------------------------------- KEY SKILLS * Strong leadership and team development abilities * Clear communication with staff, clients, and leadership * Experience with incident reporting, emergency response, and security operations * Sound judgment and conflict resolution skills ---------------------------------------- WHY JOIN US At Kates Detective Agency, you’ll take on a leadership role where your decisions directly impact field success, team performance, and client satisfaction.
