Description

Michigan Consulting & Environmental (MCE) is seeking a full-time experienced Field Scientist/ Geologist to join our Brighton, Michigan team. As a Field Scientist, you will work closely with our skilled scientists and engineers to assist in the completion of a variety of environmental testing and remediation projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conducts environmental sampling and monitoring, including: groundwater sampling, collection of soil and soil vapor samples, installation of monitoring wells, vapor pins and probes, describing soil lithology.
  • Conducts subcontractor oversight of field events including: UST removals, excavations, vac events, soil boring/monitoring well installations.
  • Follows and enforces company health and safety policies with both MCE employees and subcontractors.
  • Collects, documents, packages, and ships samples in accordance with appropriate project-specific sampling and analysis plans/protocols.
  • Completes field documents in a timely manner and is responsible for quality control of all assignments.
  • Responsible for making sure that the proper equipment is secured and used in projects and takes care of equipment (MCE and rental) properly and respectfully.
  • Must be able to follow technical instructions and guidance, keep detailed project notes and documentation as well as plan and follow-up on project needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. degree in geology, engineering or the sciences.
  • 1+ years of fieldwork experience, including work in all four seasons, preferred.
  • Requires travel to job sites and, on occasion, out of the local area for overnight stays.
  • Valid Michigan Driver’s License with no history of accidents or alcohol/drug-related traffic offenses.
  • Ability to physically walk freely around job sites and equipment as needed and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite programs.

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with power tools and hand tools
  • Prior construction, electrical, and/or environmental experience
  • OSHA/HAZWOPER Certifications
  • RMP (Radon Measurement Professional)
  • RMS (Radon Mitigation Specialist)
  • Prior experience in sales and customer service
