EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

· High school diploma
· Working at Heights certificate
· WHIMIS certificate
· Elevated Work Platform / Aerial Lift Certification → for using scissor lifts & boom lifts.
· Fall Protection Training → often paired with Working at Heights.
· Occupational Health and Safety Awareness (Ontario) → mandatory for all workers.
· Fiber Optic Termination & Testing Certification

OTHER REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

· Over 2 years of work experience as an AV Technician installing pulling cable, installing connectors, mounting displays, TV, projectors, projection screens, cameras, stereo equipment and speakers.
· Over 3 years of work experience with general electronic devices and their installation at customer sites.
· Proven practical work experience with complex systems, such as Display Technologies, Video Conferencing, Presentation Systems, Business VoIP.
· Over 2 years installing and servicing audio visual products including video walls, LED/Direct view displays and projectors.
· Prior experience setting up and calibrating live-streaming systems for corporate, educational, and medical training sessions.
· Prior experience integrating AV systems with third-party equipment such as simulators, automation systems, or building networks.
· Proven practical experience configuring and optimizing hybrid meeting environments to ensure seamless experiences for both in-person and remote participants.
· Hands-on experience terminating, splicing, and testing fiber optic cabling for high-bandwidth AV and network applications.
· Ability to operate elevated work platforms including scissor lifts and boom lifts in compliance with safety standards. Erect and dismantle scaffolds and other platforms
· Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle required (or ability to have them at the start of the job)
· Must have or be able to qualify for Government Security clearance. Will need to undergo a criminal record check and a drug test.
· Ability to run lighting, set up wireless microphones, podiums, and studio control booth equipment.
· Knowledge of the following technologies and programs: Crestron/Extron/Q-SYS, Poly, Biamp, Shure, Vaddio, Zoom and Teams, Apple products, MS Office, MS Outlook, Networks
· Ability to understand key technical AV concepts like multicasting, audio DSP, video conferencing, etc.

Responsibilities

The position will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and servicing of professional audiovisual systems. Duties follow a complete project workflow from planning through commissioning:
1. Review project requirements and read functional diagrams, elevations, risers, and layout drawings to plan installations accurately.
2. Prepare work areas and materials, ensuring compliance with site safety standards.
3. Pull, route, terminate, label, and test cabling (Cat6, control cabling, video, and antenna cables).
4. Install and mount displays, projectors, projection screens, video walls, cameras, speakers, and AV racks.
5. Install rack-mounted devices including switchers, amplifiers, control processors, etc.
6. Apply strong mechanical skills to assemble, mount, and secure AV equipment, racks, and structural components.
7. Perform ladder work and operate elevated work platforms (scissor lifts, boom lifts) safely when working at heights.
8. Terminate and solder connectors for AV, control, and network devices.
9. Create markup and as-built drawings to document changes and final installation conditions.
10. Connect, configure, and calibrate AV systems including audio equipment, microphones, amplifiers, and video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Teams, Poly, Cisco).
11. Diagnose and resolve issues with cabling, signal flow, and device connectivity.
12. Operate AV test equipment (multimeters, signal generators, cable testers, network analyzers) to verify functionality.
13. Perform preventive maintenance and apply firmware updates where required.
14. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and team members to ensure timely project completion.
15. Test and commission AV systems once installation is complete to ensure optimal performance and client satisfaction.
16. Complete work orders, installation logs, and project documentation accurately.
17. Provide professional on-site customer support during installation and service calls.
18. Set up and calibrate live-streaming systems for corporate, educational, and medical training sessions.
19. Integrate AV systems with third-party equipment such as simulators, automation systems, or building networks.
