Description

About us:
At C Gerhardt UK we market, supply and support a range of sophisticated laboratory equipment developed and manufactured by our parent company C Gerhardt GmbH alongside those manufactured by our long-term partners Fritsch GmbH and DataPhysics Instruments GmbH.
We are a small group. Eight full-time staff, four of us with 60+ years’ service between us.
Our customers include a range of manufacturing industries, Universities and Research Institutes, across many interesting applications.
All of our business processes, including our service function, is audited to ISO 9001:2015
About the job:
Following the retirement of an engineer of 25yrs plus service we wish to fill the vacancy this presents us with, to preserve our service headcount in order to meet the requirement for incoming instrument checking, warranty support, on site and return to base repairs and our service contract/preventative maintenance visit schedule.
Based out of our offices/laboratory/workshop in Brackley, Northants, there will be a requirement to travel throughout the UK, with occasional overseas visits to our manufacturing sites in Germany and to support our customers in Ireland.
With standard working hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday (4:00pm finish on a Friday), work outside of those hours may be required from time to time.
Competitive salary, pension scheme and expectation of a significant performance based year-end bonus.
Holiday allowance: 25 days, bank holidays and the days that fall between Christmas & New Year.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Performing unsupervised field service activities, fault diagnosis, calibration, preventative maintenance and service repairs.
Coordinating your schedule alongside service colleagues in order to provide the timeliest response to our customers, whist minimising travel time and costs.
Providing technical telephone and e-mail support when in the office or on the road when it is safe to do so.
Producing service reports that include itemisation of parts used in order that we might maintain minimum stock levels of regularly used items.
Expansion of the current service contract customers and the provision of sales leads for product managers.
Working to procedures as detailed within our business systems manual, in order that we might maintain our NQA status.
What you will need:
Experience of lone working in a laboratory environment is preferred but not essential.
Experience working with both electronic and mechanical instrumentation or equipment is seen as essential.
You should demonstrate an ability to spot areas in which we might improve/update our services and communicate those thoughts to the group.
The ability to work with verbal or written instructions without error and communicate issues to colleagues within our principal supplier support teams.
Regular hotel stays are a vital part of our offering a time/cost efficient service throughout the UK and Ireland. An ability to work such ‘travel’ into your personal schedule is essential.
A full driving licence and willingness to travel extensively is essential, given the requirement to visit customer sites, throughout the UK.
You will need a valid passport in order to travel to our manufacturers site(s) for occasional training.
