JOB SUMMARY:Messer Cutting Systems, located in Wisconsin, is a global supplier of cutting solutions for the metal-working industry. We are looking in the Chicago, IL area for a qualified addition to the Field Service team. The Field Service Engineer is responsible for Messer Cutting Systems machine installations, preventative maintenance, and service on machines throughout North America at various customer sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Diagnose, repair, install, and perform preventive maintenance of multi-axis CNC equipment at customer sites throughout North America
  • Perform machine and software upgrades
  • Train customers on the proper use and maintenance of the equipment
  • Properly handle 480VAC and conform to related safety procedures
  • Interpret mechanical layout drawings, electrical schematics, and bills of materials
  • Complete required paperwork on time (e.g., service reports, discrepancy reports, expense reports, etc.) on a timely basis
  • Achieve/maintain Customer Survey Satisfaction rating as established by the Service Manager
  • Provide technical telephone support, as required
  • Conduct final product testing in house, as required
  • Conform to OSHA’s safety guidelines and follow proper lockout/tagout procedures

MINIMUM EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of related experience in comparable machine installation and repair preferred
  • Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Robotics or Automation technologies preferred

ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Experience with Plasma, Laser, and Oxyfuel cutting process
  • Experience with multi-axis CNC machines
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software
  • Familiar with the use of power and construction tools, such as: hammer drills, impact guns, and cordless drills
  • Strong oral communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills, with a “customer first” mindset
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently
