Field Service Engineer (Field-base role)
This position supports the Medical Linear Accelerator Systems business within the greater Chicago area. This position will be responsible for customer relationship management through the effective use of technical knowledge to install, troubleshoot, service, and diagnosis and treatment imaging solutions at customer sites utilizing hand tools as well as specialized test tools (DVM, Oscilloscope, etc.)

Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Frequent use and application of technical documentation, standards, principles, concepts, and techniques in the field.
  • Uses acquired job skills and company policies to complete assigned tasks.
  • Sound knowledge of and professional experience with electronic and electro-mechanical engineering, testing equipment used for verification/checkout and calibration of electronic equipment.
  • Sound knowledge of and professional technical experience with micro-computers/PC based systems
  • Sound computer usage and debugging skills. Ability to identify and repair routine software and delivery system network problems.
  • Identify and resolve simple imaging system defects.
  • Performs routine maintenance, including major STBs.
  • Proficient at diagnosing and solving moderately complex mechanical problems, including simple vacuum leaks.
  • Able to perform vacuum system gun replacements and target replacements. Achieve certification status for C3 products.
  • Meets all Vendor Credentialing requirements necessary to gain VMS client site access, unless prohibited by law. These requirements vary by client and may include but are not limited to: Proof of valid identification (photo, driver’s license, SSN) Criminal background checks Drug screens Immunizations (Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Influenza, Tetanus) Annual TB testing Healthcare trainings.
  • Minimum: HS Degree or Equivalent Preferred: Associate degree, technical /vocational training or military experience with electronics and 2 – 5 years of related experienc

Other Desired Skills and Knowledge:

  • Able to handle difficult customer situations including troubleshooting while the customer is observing.
  • Is assigned as primary support for machine accounts for which certification has been completed.
  • Be able to understand and utilize the escalation process to Sr FSR, Management, NTS, PSE, Applications Required Certifications and Training: Has completed all required VMS training classes for C3 products Has completed VMS HW Level II and Imaging Level II certification testing.
  • Experience Level with Business Tools: Familiar with business tools such as E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with HCM (e.g., Workday) or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired
Responsibilities
  • Assist in service repair, preventative maintenance, field change orders/installations for Varian/SHS treatment and on-board imaging equipment.
  • Prepare work orders, parts orders, part returns, mileage logs, expense forms, time sheets and other administrative paperwork
  • Defines problems: Collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions. Has the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables

You’re the right fit if:

  • Located in the Chicago area or open to moving
  • BSEE/BSEET /BMET preferred, or two-year formal education combined with appropriate high tech related experience
  • At least two years of experience demonstrating repair and troubleshooting skills with Electro-mechanical equipment is required
  • Ability to understand and apply electronic, mechanical and computer networking theory to install, diagnose and repair equipment including ability to read and interpret schematics and site drawings

Note : Candidate must live within close proximity or be willing to relocate to Chicago, IL . This is a field based “remote” position that requires onsite work at several local customer locations.

The base pay range for this position is 51,200.00 - 63,980.00 - 76,800.00 USD Annually ; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The annual base pay for this position is:
Min $51,200 - Max $76,800
Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
If this is a commission eligible position the commission eligibility will be in accordance with the terms of the Company’s plan. Commissions are based on individual performance and/or company performance.
