Position Summary/Objectives of Incumbent: The purpose of this position is to manage, plan, and direct the service start-up activities of Thermal and Power Services in Malaysia. The role ensures efficient execution of the start-up team to achieve sales targets within budget and always maintain the company’s image and standards.   Key Responsibilities Operational Execution: * Ensure the division operates efficiently and delivers high standards of customer service.  * Develop project plans and manage resources to support project execution.  * Collaborate with Assistant Manager (Thermal) - Start-up to prepare forecasts and manage P&L, including orders, sales, and SG&A.  * Ensure purchasing procedures are followed and control local expenses within budget.  * Liaise with project and service operations teams to ensure all projects have appropriate resources.  * Maintain company equipment, vehicles, and capital assets in good working order.  * Ensure spare stocks and materials meet requirements and conduct regular stock audits.  * Report to the Senior Operation Manager monthly and highlight any regional issues promptly.  * Assist in training and participate in customer demonstrations or promotional seminars.  * Prepare and develop regular reports and analyses of business achievements, opportunities, and KPI performance.  * Review, develop, communicate sales policies and procedures to create a high-performing team. * Manage and optimize the sales process for effective productivity. Continuous Improvement: * Identify opportunities to expand project services and actively engage prospects and customers.  * Work closely with the National Service Sales Manager to grow service offerings. Planning, Process and Reporting: * Collaborate with the Senior Operation Manager to develop short- and long-term business plans.  * Lead diverse projects aimed at improving operational and sales performance.  * Work cross-functionally to identify and address business improvement opportunities. WHS, Environment & Quality: * Comply with all Work Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards.  * Actively promote workplace safety.  * Ensure accurate timesheet completion and submission with required documentation. Employees reporting to Incumbent * Startup Assistant Managers * Startup Customer engineers Main contacts within Company * MY Services Team  * Project Management Team  * Senior Operation Manager  * Business Development Managers  * Technical Support Group * Finance  Main contacts outside the Company * Customers * Contractors * suppliers    Education/Qualification: Academic & Technical Background * Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Power Engineering, or related field. * Strong understanding of electrical power systems, single‑line diagrams (SLD), and power distribution. * Additional advantage:  * Certified or trained on UPS systems (Vertiv EXL S1, GXT, APM, etc.) * Familiar with IEEE, IEC, and local electrical standards. 2. Technical Skills & Experience Minimum Experience * 3–5 years hands‑on experience in:  * UPS installation, commissioning, and start‑up * Battery banks (VRLA/Li‑ion) installation and testing * Load bank testing (resistive/inductive) Key Technical Competencies * Able to lead and execute CxL1 to CxL5 for UPS projects:  * CxL1: Pre‑installation checks * CxL2: Mechanical/electrical installation verification * CxL3: Power‑up, configuration, internal tests * CxL4: Integrated testing with load banks * CxL5: SAT + final documentation * Strong understanding of:  * UPS topology (double conversion, transformer‑based/less) * Battery configuration (series/parallel strings, AH calculations) * Rectifier, inverter, and static bypass operations * Communication protocols (Modbus RTU/TCP, SNMP, dry contacts) * Skilled in interpreting:  * SLDs, wiring diagrams, as‑built drawings * Test scripts and commissioning reports * Troubleshooting capability:  * Alarms, board failures, parameter issues * Bypass failures, battery faults, charger issues   3. Site & Safety Competency * Knowledge of LOTO procedures, safe electrical isolation, arc‑flash awareness. * Able to perform:  * Cable termination verification * Torque checks * Megger tests (if required) * Phase rotation and voltage checks   4. Customer‑Facing & Leadership Skills * Able to lead discussions with customers, PMs, consultants, and site leads. * Confident to explain:  * UPS functionality * Test results and acceptance criteria * Any deviations or risks * Able to guide and mentor CEs during commissioning. * Strong reporting and documentation skills.   5. Soft Skills * Strong communication (written & verbal). * Able to work under pressure during FAT/SAT or go‑live deadlines. * Independent, responsible, and highly organized. * Willing to travel for regional projects (MY/BN/SG as required).   6. Additional Requirements * Physically fit for site work. * Able to support after‑hours start‑ups or standby when required. * Familiar with Vertiv UPS models is a major advantage:  * Liebert EXL S1, APM, GXT, APS, EXS, etc. Time Travel Needed:  * 90%   Work Authorization No calls or agencies please.
