Field Service Manager – Power Division Full-Time • Exempt • In the Field • Monday–Friday Location: Southern California Multiquip is seeking a skilled and customer‑focused Field Service Manager to lead technical support, equipment repairs, and service operations across an assigned territory. This high‑impact role is responsible for delivering industry‑leading service, diagnosing and repairing complex equipment, supporting Authorized Service Centers, and cultivating strong customer relationships. You’ll work hands‑on with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems—including advanced generator and Tier 4 engine technology. You’ll also support training, warranty inspections, parts sales initiatives, and service revenue growth. What You’ll Do Field Service Operations Oversee all daily field service activities within your assigned territory. Provide expert troubleshooting and hands-on repair support for diesel, electrical, hydraulic, and generator systems. Perform warranty and non-warranty repairs, prepare estimates, and coordinate required parts. Ensure service work is completed efficiently and to Multiquip’s quality standards. Conduct warranty inspections and authorize repairs when appropriate. Act as the primary liaison between customers, dealers, and Multiquip on technical issues. Maintain accurate documentation of service work, customer interactions, and technical findings in CRM tools. Build and support strong relationships with Authorized Service Centers. Submit detailed technical feedback, field reports, and recommendations to internal teams. Assist with creating service bulletins, manuals, and training materials as requested. Perform additional duties as assigned. Training & Customer Support Deliver technical training to customers, dealers, and internal teams. Provide guidance on equipment operation, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance. Support product knowledge and skill development across the territory. Reinforce Multiquip’s commitment to safety, quality, and service excellence. Sales & Service Growth Promote Multiquip service and parts programs to support departmental revenue goals. Identify opportunities for direct parts sales and recommend MQ filter kits. Support MQ service centers with referrals for preventive maintenance and repair programs. Encourage adoption of MQ service solutions to help drive customer satisfaction and retention. Compliance, Reporting & Documentation Ensure all service work follows Multiquip procedures and industry standards. Document all repairs, diagnostics, and inspections thoroughly and accurately. Maintain clear records to support warranty review, claims, and service reporting. Provide technical insights that support product improvement initiatives. Collaboration & Travel Work collaboratively with internal service, engineering, and sales teams. Maintain strong, professional communication with customers and partners. Travel throughout the assigned territory; travel may exceed 80%. What You Bring Experience & Education Associate degree or 5+ years of hands-on experience in the power generation industry. Minimum 5 years as a Power Generation Technician or equivalent. Strong background in electrical systems, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and generator technology. Experience reading and interpreting schematics, manuals, and technical documentation. Proven ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues. Strong communication and customer‑service orientation. Excellent organizational and problem‑solving abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and web‑based service applications. Certificates & Licenses Valid driver’s license and passport required. Completion of technical training programs, certifications, or technical school strongly preferred. Electrical safety certifications are a strong plus. Technical Skills Advanced troubleshooting of power generation equipment, diesel engines, AVRs, controllers, and PLC‑based systems. Ability to perform detailed diagnostics using specialized software and tools. Strong understanding of preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, and field repair processes. Skilled in documenting service work, preparing estimates, and maintaining accurate technical records. Physical Requirements Ability to work in field environments, including customer sites, service centers, and outdoor locations. Ability to stand, walk, climb, or sit for extended periods during inspections and repairs. Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as kneeling, reaching, or handling tools. Ability to safely operate repair tools, diagnostic equipment, and machinery. Must maintain clear communication, situational awareness, and safe work practices at all times.
