Description POSITION TITLE: Field Service Manager (Power Transformers) EFFECTIVE DATE: August 2024, REPORTS TO: National Service Manager DEPARTMENT: Field Service STATUS: Exempt LOCATION: Remote POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Regional Field Service Manager will oversee power transformer installation, maintenance, and repair. FSM will manage a work planner and external resources, and lead a team of field service technicians and equipment to support the installation, maintenance, and testing of new power transformers and existing customer assets within a defined region. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Management: Oversee and lead a team of power transformer and high voltage breaker field service technicians who install, test, and maintain both new and installed Pennsylvanian Transformer-manufactured transformers and other OEM in-service customer assets. Oversee the coordination and scheduling of services with customers, resources, and internal teams to meet project timelines and quality standards and ensure efficient resource use. Carry out assigned fleet DOT and CDL requirements as received from fleet management. Provide and lead the coordination of technical assistance and troubleshooting for field issues involving transformers and HV breakers. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for any technical problems. Team Leadership: Grow, develop, manage, and mentor a team of field service technicians and supervisors. Assign tasks based on skill sets and project requirements to optimize efficiency. Train staff and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Ensure all field activities comply with company standards and industry regulations. Maintain accurate documentation of all service activities, including installation, testing, and maintenance reports. Act as the customers' lead point of contact during field service operations. Address customer concerns and ensure high satisfaction with the services provided. Safety Compliance: Promote and enforce a safety-first culture within the team. Ensure all field operations adhere to safety protocols and environmental regulations. Maintain company and employee safety certifications and training requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Strong technical knowledge of power transformers. HV breakers are a plus. Excellent project management and leadership skills. Proficiency in electrical testing and diagnostic equipment. Strong communication and customer service skills. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience will be considered. Minimum of 5 years in field service leadership, focusing on power transformers and HV breakers. Ability to travel extensively to achieve safety, quality, and financial objectives. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Primarily intra-organizational interactions, collaborating with supervisors and personnel under your direction. You will manage the interface between departments and coordinate and execute production requirements. PHYSICAL JOB DEMANDS Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 60 lbs. Must be able to work in extreme hot and cold conditions, stand for extended periods, and be exposed to loud noise levels. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to hear telephone conversations and speak clearly. May require sustained concentration in a busy, dynamic environment. WORKING CONDITIONS Monday through Friday, and on-call will be required.
