Description Field Service Technician (Apprentice), Power Generation Location: Anchorage, AK Department: Service Operations Reports To: Service Leader Work Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Travel: Local customer sites using a company service truck Direct Reports: None Compensation: $24.00 – $35.00 per hour (based on skills and experience) Role Overview MSHS Pacific Power Group is seeking a Field Service Technician (Apprentice) to join our Power Generation Service team. This role is designed for individuals with strong mechanical or electrical aptitude who want to build a long-term career servicing critical power generation equipment. As an apprentice technician, you will work alongside experienced generator technicians performing maintenance, inspections, and diagnostics on diesel and gaseous generator systems. You will gain hands-on experience in the field while developing the technical skills required to progress into a fully independent Generator Technician. This position offers structured on-the-job training, access to OEM and internal technical training programs, and a clear progression path within the organization. Technicians in this role primarily travel to local customer sites and return home nightly. Overtime may be available based on service schedules and emergency response needs. Key Responsibilities • Assist senior technicians with preventive maintenance on diesel and gaseous generator systems • Support troubleshooting of AC and DC electrical systems and generator controls • Learn to safely operate meters, diagnostic equipment, and electrical testing tools • Assist with load bank testing and generator performance verification • Document service activities, parts usage, and inspection findings using company service software • Communicate professionally with customers during field visits • Travel to customer sites using a company-provided service vehicle • Support emergency service calls when required under technician supervision • Follow all MSHS PPG safety, environmental, and operational standards Training & Career Development MSHS PPG invests heavily in technician development and career progression. • Structured hands-on training with experienced generator technicians • OEM and internal technical training programs during the first 6 to 12 months • Exposure to advanced electrical diagnostics and generator control systems • Clear milestone-based progression into higher-level technician roles Required Qualifications • Mechanical or electrical aptitude with a strong interest in power systems • 0 to 3 years of experience in a technician, mechanical, or electrical role • Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured under company policy • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work indoors or outdoors in varying conditions • Willingness to work overtime or weekends as business needs require • High School Diploma or GED • Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn Desired Skills and Experience • Technical school certificate or degree in Diesel Technology, Electrical Systems, or related field • Hands-on experience with mechanical or electrical equipment • EGSA, ASE, NCCER, or similar technical certifications • Background in industrial maintenance, diesel engines, or generator systems • Military experience involving mechanical, electrical, or power systems Why Join MSHS Pacific Power Group?
