Job DescriptionPosition Title: Field Service Technician Department: Technical ServicesReporting Relationship: Technical Services ManagerLocation: Barbizon Electric New York City OfficePosition Summary:Provide technical service and support to Customers, Barbizon Regional Systems Division, and VendorsMajor Duties & Responsibilities :• Provide support and troubleshooting to customers, both on-site and remotely via phone or electronic messaging.• Evaluate Equipment to determine if it should be repaired in-house or shipped to factory• Repair conventional and automated fixtures, dimming equipment, control consoles and accessories• Provide in-shop repair service to customers• Provide on-site field service to customers• Manage paperwork for in-shop and field service repairs• Track/Coordinate repair paperwork and flow of materials between manufacturer and customer for factory repairs• Maintain organization of customer and repair shop files• Maintain equipment and parts inventory• Handle billing for repairs and technical services• Assist in crafting service contracts and respond to associated emergency repair calls• Execute service contracts• Provide Systems Division and factory commissioning of lighting systems, including low voltage terminations• Installation of lighting equipment on site to include: assembly of distribution and control racks, fixtures and accessories• Install and configure system software• Train new customers on operations and maintenance of installed lighting system• Provide accounting information to Project Management/Accounting Department for all field service• Secure and return completed commissioning and training reports to Systems Division and/or factory• Keep updated and informed of new products and system operational software• Attend factory trainings with appropriate frequency to maintain “state of the art” technical support certifications• Setup, connect and operate equipment for Demonstrations in house and in the fieldRequired Skills & Abilities:• Basic Electrical Knowledge• Knowledge of entertainment dimming & control systems• Understanding of DMX and network control standards• High level of organizational ability• Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently• Ability to follow direction• Good work habits and organizational skills• High proficiency troubleshooting skills• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written• Attention to detail• Ability to get along with others• Ability to work well without direct supervision, self-starter• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
