FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN I Location: Detroit, MI | Field-Based Job Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire Pay: $24.00–$29.00 per hour Overtime: Overtime eligible Travel: Up to 80%, including overnight travel Required Test: Human Performance Test ABOUT QUEST INTERNATIONAL Quest International provides technical field service, equipment repair, preventive maintenance, and lifecycle support for medical, industrial, diagnostic, laboratory, and electro-mechanical equipment. As a Field Service Technician I, you will represent Quest directly at customer locations. You will troubleshoot equipment, complete repairs, document your work, and communicate professionally with customers and internal technical teams. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Travel to customer locations to install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment. * Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on medical, industrial, diagnostic, laboratory, OEM, and electro-mechanical equipment. * Diagnose equipment failures using a digital multimeter, hand tools, power tools, and approved diagnostic equipment. * Troubleshoot equipment to the field-replaceable unit, module, part, or component level. * Repair or replace circuit boards, power supplies, sensors, motors, wiring, connectors, harnesses, modules, and mechanical assemblies. * Follow service manuals, diagrams, standard operating procedures, safety requirements, and customer-site protocols. * Complete accurate service reports documenting the problem, troubleshooting performed, parts used, work completed, and recommended next steps. * Communicate professionally with customers, technical support, service leadership, and internal Quest teams. * Use Windows-based systems to access service information, manage files, review diagnostic information, and support equipment troubleshooting. WHAT YOU’LL BRING * At least one year of professional hands-on experience in field service, equipment repair, industrial maintenance, medical equipment service, electronics repair, appliance repair, automotive diagnostics, installation, or another electro-mechanical technical role. * Experience using a digital multimeter or comparable diagnostic tool. * Experience working with wiring, connectors, harnesses, circuit boards, electronic components, equipment modules, or mechanical assemblies. * Ability to read and follow technical manuals, diagrams, service procedures, SOPs, and safety instructions. * Basic Windows 10/11 skills, including: * File and folder management * Task Manager * Event Viewer * ping, ipconfig, and tracert * Static versus DHCP IP addressing * Network-adapter settings * Remote Desktop or similar support tools * Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle. * Ability to meet the required automobile-insurance standards. * Ability to travel up to 80%, including overnight travel, early departures, and changing customer schedules. * Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical field-service work. * Ability to work independently and professionally at customer locations. * Willingness to complete the required Human Performance Test. * Willingness to accept a full-time, temp-to-hire employment structure. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE * Medical, industrial, diagnostic, laboratory, optical, manufacturing, or OEM equipment service. * FRU, module, board, part-level, or component-level troubleshooting. * Experience using a vacuum or pressure meter, frequency counter, oscilloscope, power supply, cable tester, or electronic diagnostic tester. * Experience replacing boards, sensors, motors, power supplies, wiring, connectors, harnesses, or assemblies. * Command Prompt or PowerShell familiarity. * BMET, electronics, electrical, automotive, aviation, robotics, mechatronics, industrial-maintenance, trade-school, or military technical training. * Strong customer-service and service-documentation experience.
