FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN – DALLAS / REGIONAL TRAVEL Location: Dallas, TX | Field-Based Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire Pay: $24.00–$35.00 per hour Overtime: Overtime eligible Travel: Extensive travel, generally exceeding 80%, including overnight travel Required Test: Human Performance Test ABOUT QUEST INTERNATIONAL Quest International provides field service, technical support, preventive maintenance, equipment repair, and lifecycle services for medical-device manufacturers and other technical-equipment organizations. As a Field Service Technician, you will represent Quest at hospitals, medical facilities, and other customer locations. You will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair professional A/V and electro-mechanical equipment while providing dependable customer support and accurate technical documentation. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Travel extensively to customer sites for scheduled and unscheduled service assignments. * Install, configure, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair professional A/V and electro-mechanical equipment. * Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs using approved service procedures and diagnostic equipment. * Diagnose equipment failures to the field-replaceable unit, module, board, cable, connector, power-supply, sensor, motor, or assembly level. * Troubleshoot Coax, HDMI, USB, Cat5/Cat6, wiring, connectors, power, network communication, and signal-flow problems. * Support equipment such as monitors, displays, speakers, amplifiers, audio consoles, DSPs, video matrix switchers, control systems, PC interfaces, DVRs, and CCTV systems. * Verify equipment operation after repairs and escalate unresolved technical issues appropriately. * Complete accurate service reports, work orders, parts records, test results, photographs, checklists, customer updates, and final-resolution notes. * Manage travel schedules, flights, hotels, rental vehicles, expenses, service priorities, and changing customer requirements. * Communicate professionally with customers, technical support, service leadership, and other technicians. * Follow hospital and customer-site safety, access, conduct, privacy, and documentation requirements. * Work independently while maintaining dependable attendance, communication, and follow-through. WHAT YOU’LL BRING * High school diploma or equivalent. * At least three years of professional hands-on experience in A/V field service, electro-mechanical repair, medical equipment service, industrial equipment service, BMET, military electronics, avionics, robotics, mechatronics, or a closely related technical field. * Experience performing installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, corrective maintenance, and equipment repair. * Experience independently diagnosing failures and completing FRU-, module-, board-, component-, or equipment-level repairs. * Professional experience using a digital multimeter. * Experience using additional diagnostic equipment such as a vacuum or pressure meter, frequency counter, oscilloscope, bench power supply, cable tester, signal tester, or electronic diagnostic tester. * Strong cable and signal-flow knowledge involving Coax, HDMI, USB, Cat5/Cat6, connectors, wiring, and related media. * Experience supporting professional A/V, control-system, medical, industrial, or comparable technical equipment. * Strong customer-service, communication, and service-documentation skills. * Ability to work independently with limited supervision. * Ability to travel extensively, including overnight stays, early departures, late returns, overtime, and changing customer schedules. * Valid driver’s license. * Reliable transportation and eligibility to rent and operate vehicles for field assignments. * Ability to meet applicable work-related vehicle and insurance requirements. * Ability to perform the essential field-service functions, with or without reasonable accommodation, including lifting up to 50 pounds and performing work that may involve standing, bending, crawling, climbing, and using tools. * Compensation expectations within the approved $24.00–$35.00 hourly range. * Willingness to complete the required Human Performance Test. REQUIRED WINDOWS AND NETWORKING SKILLS You must be comfortable using Windows-based systems during equipment installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and documentation. Required skills include: * Windows 10 and Windows 11 navigation * File and folder management * Task Manager * Event Viewer and system logs * Command Prompt or PowerShell * ping, ipconfig, and tracert * Static IP versus DHCP configuration * Basic IP address, subnet, gateway, DNS, and network-adapter settings * Public, Private, and Domain network profiles * Remote Desktop or another approved remote-support tool * Managing service reports, photographs, manuals, diagnostic files, and customer documentation PREFERRED EXPERIENCE * Professional A/V installation, integration, configuration, or repair * Medical-device, hospital, clinical, biomedical, or controlled-environment experience * CCTV, low-voltage, structured cabling, POS, kiosk, smart-hands, or remote-eyes support * Industrial equipment, robotics, avionics, military electronics, or mechatronics * BMET, electronics, electrical, or technical-school training * CompTIA A+ or comparable technical coursework * Control systems, DSPs, video matrix switchers, audio consoles, amplifiers, and PC-connected A/V systems * Work-order, proof-of-work, field-service, or asset-management systems * Microsoft Word and Excel * Experience independently managing frequent travel, lodging, rental vehicles, expenses, and changing field schedules * Stable professional field-service history * Supervisor-reference readiness * Long-term interest in hands-on field-service work TRAVEL AND WORKING CONDITIONS This is a travel-intensive field position based in the Dallas market.
