Soilmec Australia is currently recruiting a Field Service Technician to join our team at our headquarters in Mulgrave, NSW.
Reporting to the Service Manager, you will provide field service support to Soilmec equipment users in the region and interstate. You will be working in a variety of environments performing maintenance and breakdown repairs on a mixture of fixed and mobile plant equipment. This role will involve working on a broad range of machinery including drilling and piling rigs, drilling attachments, grout and concrete equipment, soil investigation equipment and more.

Key responsibilities & duties

  • Mechanical, Hydraulic and Electrical diagnosis
  • Perform scheduled repairs and maintenance
  • Breakdown repairs
  • Undertake service, pre-delivery, repairs and modifications to all client’s equipment
  • Fabrication of components (brackets, mounting plates etc.)
  • Complete service reports and inspections
  • Work with clients directly for troubleshooting, either in the field or remotely
  • Maintain customer relationships
  • Travel to jobsites locally and interstate when required.
  • Undertake service and repair to Drilling and Piling equipment

Academic or trade qualifications

  • Relevant and current trade qualification - Australian Recognised Trade Certificate (ARTC) qualification in Mechanical Engineering with appropriate experience as a Mechanical/Maintenance Fitter OR Automotive/Heavy vehicle qualification.

Work experience and skills

  • Previous exposure to heavy equipment
  • Exceptional hydraulics experience and knowledge
  • Strong fault-finding capability
  • Ability to understand schematics, both electrical and hydraulic
  • Provide a high level of customer support
  • Solid diagnostic and IT skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to customer service and safety
  • Computer/Tablet literate, Word/Excel and Apps.
  • Have the right to work in Australia; Birth Certificate, Passport or Citizenship Certificate to verify
  • Photo ID (licence, passport e.g.)
  • Australian Recognised Trade Certificate (ARTC) qualification in Engineering with appropriate experience as a Mechanical/Maintenance Fitter
  • Current OH&S Induction Card (White/Green Card)
  • You will also have the ability to pass a pre-employment medical and provide a clear drug & alcohol screen
