Western Field Services, a division of Western Energy Services Corp. is hiring a Field Support Technician to join our growing team!
Western Energy Services Corp. is an oilfield service company which provides contract drilling services through Horizon Drilling in Canada and Stoneham Drilling Corporation in the United States. In addition, Western provides well servicing through Eagle Well Servicing in Canada and provides rental services through Aero Rental Services in Canada and Western Field Services for mechanical support for all lines of business.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Field Support Technician will be responsible for performing major mechanical and electrical diagnosis as well as diesel engine, hydraulic systems, and generator repairs. This job will require travel to various remote locations for extended periods across Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan, and into the United States servicing drilling rigs.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must possess a valid Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Technician/Mechanic Certificate
  • Strong diagnostic abilities and troubleshooting experience with various engines including Cat, Detroit and Cummins
  • Experience in engine overhauls is an asset
  • Must possess a valid Alberta driver license
  • Possessing a valid H2S and first aid certification is an asset
  • Forklift and loader operation experience is and asset
  • Drilling rig experience is an asset
  • Strong organizational and communication skills are essential
  • Ability to work both as a team member and independently
  • Ability to troubleshoot over the phone
  • Detail oriented with excellent time management and follow up skills
  • Responsive and positive work attitude
  • Knowledge of some computer software including word, excel, power point

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair - engines, transmissions, gear boxes, radiators, mud pumps and compressors within our drilling division.
  • Troubleshoot and test generator set output as well as synchronizing control systems.
  • Manage and maintain service truck, ensuring it is stocked with required tools and parts
  • Create and manage work orders to be submitted for equipment tracking purposes
  • Utilize electronic and computerized testing equipment to aid in diagnosis and repairs
  • Maintain and document valve set intervals on all engines
  • Create parts lists for repairs and generate purchase orders for required vendors
  • Help facilitate equipment replacement in field for both preventative maintenance and breakdown occurrences
  • Travel to multiple drilling operational locations
  • Promote and adhere to all company safety policies
  • Additional tasks as assigned
