Description

The Field Technician provides technical support to a large, varied user group. Responsible for student account creation, inventory control, and overseeing various technical projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as integral member of the technology team and support the values, mission and goals of Constellation and its schools.
  • Utilizes organizational skills to create student network accounts with precision.
  • Manages project resources during project implementation (people, equipment, purchased services, etc.)
  • Identifies, coordinates, and oversees projects with Educational Technology Supervisor, Technology Director and other Field Technicians.
  • Supports a collaborative working environment in which technology resources are available so that staff can perform efficiently and students can be successful learners.
  • Communicates effectively with administrative staff, school principals and teachers.
  • Installs, configures, maintains and troubleshoots all:
  • computer hardware and software
  • projectors, Smart Boards, scanners, printers, and various peripherals
  • wired and wireless connections and devices.
  • Processes warranty information and repair work with associated documentation.
  • Responds to all inquiries promptly.
  • Implements established hardware and software maintenance procedures.
  • Maintains an effective understanding of Information Technology as it progresses over time and contributes ideas to develop new solutions.
  • Creates and maintains detailed records & notes relating to projects, hardware, procedures, etc.
  • Consistently uses official programs such as help desk ticketing, time tracking, etc.
  • Represents the organization professionally and treat everyone respectfully.
  • Adheres to the Staff Handbook and all Constellation Policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Technology Director, CFO and/or Executive Director.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Associate Degree in Computer Science, programming or related field, or substantial experience with Windows based computers, software and networking.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar Technical Support role.
  • 1 year experience within a school setting required.
  • Valid Ohio drivers license.
  • Work history demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to educate users as well as provide straight technical support.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills.
  • Experience with installation, maintenance and support of a large fleet / user base.
  • Experience with a wide variety of hardware and software, as typically used in an education environment.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, maintain the confidentiality of privileged information and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Willingness and ability to adjust to changing conditions or priorities.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to consistently follow protocol and instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently, and with a team.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in a physically demanding environment as needed.
