ALS Environmental Newcastle is seeking a full time Field Technician/Lab technician for our dedicated sampling, inorganics and soil team. The role will suit someone who wants to work in a field technician role while still performing some lab work. The Filed Technician will become part of a team that strives to exceed client expectations by delivering quality results on time and by maintaining strong relationships with their colleagues and clients. The day-to-day responsibilities includes: Sampling of client sites in accordance with client requirements, including on-site field analyses where applicable. Ensuring the appropriate sampling equipment and approved methodology is used to provide a quality service to the clients. Ensuring that preparation and analytical procedures and associated tasks are conducted in accordance with ALS Quality Work Instructions Organising designated tasks to maximise daily efficiencies Completing all tasks within both the timeframe set by the Supervisor and the relevant analysis standard Highlighting anomalies in results and sample type/behaviour Some weekend and on call work will be required The essentials - the successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities: Tertiary qualifications in a related area are desirable but not essential Sampling and field experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided A desire to work in a high-throughput, client-focused environment, with preference given to those with previous commercial laboratory experience Excellent attention to detail, organisational and time management skills Dedication to good laboratory practices regarding quality of results and health and safety Willingness to be cross trained in other sections of the laboratory Working at ALS The ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.
