NEP New Zealand is currently looking for a Field Technician - Broadcast Engineer. This position works within our Engineering team based at our Mt Wellington, Auckland OB base. It will also involve work on outside broadcasts around New Zealand as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Proficient in interfacing external equipment to the truck.
  • Good understanding of transmission signals generated from the truck/ Flyaway kit.
  • Good understanding of field equipment – remote cameras, RF camera links, remote monitoring and communications systems.
  • Fault finding of equipment failures.
  • Basic understanding of TCP/ IP and Networking.
  • Ability to manage and maintain strong client relationships at all times. Provide dedicated services that meet the needs and requirements of all NEP New Zealand’s clients.
Responsibilities
  • To liaise with the project’s Technical Manager to ensure you are fully briefed on the size, scope, production schedule, equipment and facilities required.
  • To have assisted with preparation of operational readiness of all equipment and facilities by the scheduled production hand over time required by any field or studio project you are assigned to.
  • To have assisted with completion of system calibration and signal checks onto the local program recording device or devices to the end users transmission or recording facility by the predetermined time in the production schedule.
  • Monitor program signals and equipment during production for problems and rectify any problems encountered to minimize the impact on the production.
  • Assist in maintaining (both preventative and repair) of all broadcast equipment.
  • Ensure the electrical and mechanical safety of all broadcast equipment.Be prepared to work shifts, and travel where required.
