Field Technician Level 1 Department: Operations Employment Type: Full Time Location: Conover, NC Reporting To: Operations Manager Compensation: $18.00 - $26.00 / hour Description The Field Technician Level 1 supports experienced field crews in the safe setup, maintenance, and operation of tapping and line-stopping equipment while learning Rangeline’s systems and standards. This role is ideal for individuals who bring a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn in a physically demanding environment. Experience in underground utilities or construction is strongly preferred. Key Responsibilities • Assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of water main systems • Support setup and teardown of tapping, line-stop, and valve insertion equipment • Clean and maintain tools, trucks, and work areas • Load and unload materials and equipment • Follow instructions from senior technicians and job leads on site • Participate in pre-job safety meetings and follow safety protocols • Complete basic documentation such as safety checklists or field reports as directed • Observe and learn proper procedures for tapping, stopping, and field repairs Skills, Knowledge and Expertise • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical skills • Ability to follow oral and written directions • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team • Clear communication and respectful interaction with others • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions • Availability to travel and work overnight or on-call shifts as needed • Commitment to safety, attendance, and professional development ________________________________________ Qualifications and Education Requirements • High school diploma or GED • Experience in underground utility or construction strongly preferred • Ability to obtain OSHA 10 and forklift certification within 90 days of hire ________________________________________ Mental/Physical Demands and Environmental Factors • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and kneeling • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs • Must be able to climb ladders up to 30 feet • Exposure to construction hazards, moving parts, and outdoor elements • Work in confined spaces, trenches, and other field conditions • Travel may be required on short notice All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or protected veteran status.
Responsibilities
