Job Summary This person will work in the field for most of their day, assisting with the maintenance & repairs of the assigned water/ wastewater systems, and will be responsible for the accurate and timely collection of data from residential and commercial customer locations. The ideal candidate must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations. Responsibilities Review service orders to determine locations where meter readings need to be performed Read water meters and enter data in route logs Maintains required paperwork and logs in compliance with Federal, State and local rules and regulations Inspect meters and connections to determine defects, faults and damages Repairs and/or replaces broken water mains and service lines Communicate problems with meters or incorrect readings to the Project Manager Operates a company vehicle to conduct meter readings for assigned route Connect and disconnect utility services as directed Ensure that all data in the utility log book is maintained correctly, and kept updated Perform general landscape maintenance including mowing, trimming, clean-ups, pruning, and other typical landscape maintenance tasks Performs other related duties as directed Qualifications Job Qualifications High school diploma or GED Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Records are required 1-year of experience with water/ wastewater systems, maintenance or servicing industry preferred Ability to work independently Ability to understand water systems and concepts Strong attention to detail Must be available to work nights, weekends, overtime and ‘on-call’ as needed Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Work involves strenuous physical activity in outdoor environments, including exposure to extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow), with or without reasonable accommodation. Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach; may be required to maintain these positions for periods of up to 4 hours. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted; heavier items may be lifted with assistance or mechanical aids. Work in confined spaces and at elevated heights (ladders, scaffolding, vaults, manholes, tanks). Frequent use of hands and fingers for tools, valves, instrumentation, and controls. Visual and auditory capacity to detect and diagnose malfunctions, leaks, or safety issues. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection, safety harnesses, gloves, and protective clothing. Work may involve exposure to loud noise, odors, chemicals, and hazardous conditions. Must maintain readiness to respond to emergency repairs, including after-hours or on-call assignments. Responsibilities
