Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you a hands-on, practical problem solver with a passion for mobile technology? We’re looking for a Field Test Engineer to join our team and help ensure mobile network connectivity wherever it is needed across the UK.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for conducting mobile networking testing in a variety of locations, from city centres to remote rural areas. This work is highly flexible and customer-driven, so you’ll need to be prepared to work unsociable hours, including night shifts and weekends, depending on project requirements. When not on the road, you’ll be based at our Horsham Office, working collaboratively with our team to analyse results and plan test activities.
This is a mobile role requiring regular travel across the country, and you’ll be driving our shared company drive-testing vehicle. Please note: For insurance purposes, applicants must be aged 21 years or over.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

  • You will set up and operate mobile network test equipment in order to capture accurate measurements of mobile network performance.
  • Some of this testing will involve driving predetermined routes with the equipment installed in vehicles across the country
  • Some of this testing will involve walking along predetermined routes with the measurement equipment in a backpack, for example around buildings.
  • Some testing will be on Railway and Mass Transit Systems and will require you to undergo appropriate training for safe working in these environments.
  • You may be required to undertake testing at night.
  • You will maintain test setups and configurations, including instrumentation, fixtures, and measurement systems.
  • You will troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to testing and measurement equipment.
  • You will maintain and calibrate testing instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • You will also be involved in the evaluation of new testing technologies and methodologies to improve efficiency and capability.
