Position Objective
This role acts as the company’s technical and administrative representative, handling customer service tasks such as on-site preventive maintenance, inspections, project assignments, and overhaul/repair services. Responsibilities also include call-out services and commissioning activities for Solar gas turbine packages. Additionally, the position involves mentoring less experienced Field Service Representatives (FSRs) and customer personnel.

Nature and Scope
The FSR must possess advanced knowledge and experience in maintaining various types of primary and utility equipment.
Principal Accountabilities
- Understand and comply with Solar and customer HSSE policies and procedures. Ensure adherence to the work permit system and maintain safe site practices. Participate in or conduct general safety and toolbox safety meetings, and complete all required safety training. Suggest safety improvements and act as the company representative in accident investigations
- Ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded. Perform all maintenance and commissioning activities in accordance with Solar Engineering specifications, recommendations, and best practices. Provide feedback on encountered problems and their resolutions
- Be aware of procedures for sourcing information and technical advice, while being capable of independent reasoning and judgment. Maintain up-to-date product knowledge to repair and adjust mechanical, electrical, electronic, and control components/process systems. Read and use applicable drawings, ladder logic diagrams, and technical manuals. Liaise with OEMs and external resources to resolve problems
- Proactively recognize electrical/mechanical abnormalities and potential safety issues, taking appropriate action to prevent serious hazards and equipment damage. Maintain sufficient records to support technical and financial decision-making. Advise Solar and customers on warranty, logistics, engineering, project management, parts inventory, technical training, and Maintenance Management systems
- Ensure accurate communication and reporting between Solar management and customer representatives. Submit accurate work activity reports and non-routine reports as necessary
- Demonstrate sound technical judgment in troubleshooting complex technical problems. Use advanced troubleshooting techniques to identify root causes. Work individually or with assigned FSRs on preventive/corrective maintenance. Assist the operations and maintenance crew as needed when the workload exceeds available personnel
- Demonstrate a multi-disciplined approach to rotating equipment and associated balance of plant, maintenance, repair, commissioning, and troubleshooting. Work effectively in a diverse team environment
- Carry out preparation tasks before deployment, including managing technical clarifications, tooling or parts needs, and obtaining any necessary pre-approvals
Qualifications
- The FSR must have completed a recognized apprenticeship or an equivalent period of training
- Possess a technical qualification such as a Degree, HNC/HND, ONC, C&G, Aviation Engineer’s license, or Marine Engineer’s Certificate
- Have 7-10 years of experience in a related industry. Higher experience or skill levels can compensate for lower academic qualifications, and vice versa
- Experience in an overseas or offshore environment is essential, along with familiarity with rotating equipment and PLC systems. This experience can be either mechanical or instrument/electrical
- Must be capable of a cross-disciplined approach to the job
- Have a sound understanding of gas turbine & gas compressor theory, generators, and operational practices. Including control system logic and driven equipment processes
- Ability to program and troubleshoot PLC systems is required
- Where regionally required, obtain and maintain an offshore medical and survival certificate and/or other necessary training/certifications
