Description

We are seeking an innovative and experienced Arts Educator to lead FilmEd Field Trips for the 2025-26 school year. The FilmEd Arts Educator will also assist the Education Coordinator with both the organizational logistics and operational aspects of running dynamic, highly-engaging field trips for K-8 students in all five boroughs of New York City. Field Trips typically take place from 10 AM–12 PM, excluding set up and break down time.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience teaching the arts for elementary and/or middle school grades
  • Experience teaching film and media arts strongly desired
  • Ability to teach using arts-based vocabulary in Spanish strongly desired
  • Prior experience teaching in NYC public school settings a plus
  • Familiarity with NYC Blueprint for Learning & Teaching in the Arts a plus
  • Exceptional group management, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Energetic enthusiasm for working with children in a dynamic environment
  • Fun-loving, friendly, and positive with a can-do attitude
    Compensation: $40-65/hour, commensurate with experience
    This is a hybrid position requiring in-person work at least one day per week on site, as well as ability to travel within NYC for field trips. Candidates should be available to work around 8 hours a week, with flexibility based on the public school and NYICFF Field Trip calendars.

Responsibilities
  • Lead FilmEd Field Trips, including:
  • Preparing and organizing materials
  • Coordinating and collaborating with venues around delivery of screening media, reserving screening rooms, general use of shared space
  • Communicating with teachers
  • Introducing film programs and facilitating post-screening discussion among up to 350 students
  • Work with NYICFF staff on updating materials, talking points, and activities
  • Communicate with NYICFF’s Education Coordinator to manage venues, schedules, and RSVPs to ensure that field-trips run smoothly
  • Research and cultivate new partnership opportunities with schools and community groups
