Objective A Filter Compliance Technician in the swine industry plays a vital role in maintaining biosecurity and ensuring the health of swine herds by overseeing and auditing air filtration systems and related biosecurity measures. Implementing effective air filtration systems is crucial in preventing airborne diseases such as Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS). Regular audits and maintenance of these systems by Filter Compliance Technicians are essential in reducing the risk of disease transmission within swine populations Role and Responsibilities * Biosecurity Audits: Conduct thorough inspections of both the interior and exterior areas of swine facilities to ensure biosecurity measures are in place and effective. Inspecting transition areas that protocols are being followed. This includes checking for proper rodent baiting, feed bin management, composting practices, and general cleanliness. * Filtration System Maintenance: Perform daily audits of ventilation systems, including fans and shutters, to identify and repair any backdrafts or faults. Regularly inspect attic spaces to monitor filter effectiveness. * Protocol Compliance: Ensure adherence to airlock protocols and disinfection/downtime (D/D) room procedures. Inspect transition areas to confirm cleanliness and proper use. * Inventory Management: Monitor and manage the inventory of equipment and supplies in biosecure areas to ensure availability and readiness. * Collaboration and Training: Work alongside on-site technicians to provide additional oversight and coaching. Participate in monthly audits with company leaders to review audit preparation, processes, and decision-making. Qualifications and Education Requirements Education: A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience: 2+ years of livestock experience preferred. Skills * Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. * Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting. Work Environment * Agricultural Swine Facilities: Technicians primarily work in rural swine production sites, including gestation, farrowing, and nursery barns. * Indoor and Outdoor Tasks: Responsibilities span both interior spaces such as attic inspections and fan maintenance and exterior areas, including feed bin management and rodent control.
