Description TITLE: CREW WORKER PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION: The purpose of this classification is to perform unskilled to semi-skilled and manual labor work in the maintenance of the City’s roads, sidewalks, and utilities, or the collection and disposal of the City’s refuse. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Performs general laboring tasks in one of the following areas: sanitation, transportation, wastewater treatment, and water filtration. Participates in cleaning equipment and performing preventive maintenance; makes minor repairs to equipment. Operates a variety of trucks and equipment in performing tasks. Inspects equipment and assigned work area for safety hazards. Flags traffic. Observes all safety rules and guidelines. Assists in the repair and construction of the water system. Mows grass and maintains landscaping. Maintains buildings, lakes, and dams. Maintains vehicles and equipment, including chemical feeders. Assists Maintenance Mechanic and operators. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS: Performs other related duties as required. Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
