Job Description: Inspects Gelcoat for any imperfections and repairs if necessary. Addresses gelcoat blemishes and corrects gelcoat defects as well as applies wax to the final product before wrapping the boat. Duties and Responsibilities: · Identifies imperfections and uses sanders, buffers, and small routers under pneumatic pressure. · Inspects all parts so that they are complete and up to quality standards. · Cleans area during process to remove any compound or wax build up. · Inspects all parts so that they are complete and up to quality standards. · Perform tasks under time pressure deadlines. · Performs work with strong attention to detail. · Works with a team to complete daily tasks. · Follows all safety guidelines for the station. · Any other duties as assigned by management. · Must comply with all OSHA and safety procedures. Requirements Skills and abilities for success in this position: Ability to apply gelcoat to surfaces Ability to repair gelcoat defects such as cracks, porosity, and other gelcoat defects. Must be able to use chemicals with proper protective gloves and equipment. Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, take time to understand the points being made, and ask questions as appropriately. Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents. Ability to manage one’s own time and respect the time of others. Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. Knowledge, Education, and Experience: Previous experience with gelcoat repair in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Knowledge of proper use of material for waxing processes preferred. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience in using and maintaining a variety of hand tools. Experience with buffers, sanders, and spray equipment. Knowledge of production processes and quality control preferred. Physical and Work Requirements: Must be able to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods. Must be able to climb into and out of the interior of boats. Must be able to wear proper safety equipment as needed. Must be able to lift 50 pounds when necessary. The ability to see details at a close range. Be able to use and maintain small hand tools (grinder, scraper, razor knife, blower, etc.) This is a safety-sensitive position.
