MANAGER, FINANCE & ACCOUNTING

Location: Remote (with occasional travel within the GTA and Alberta)
Preference: Candidates based in the GTA or Calgary
Reports to: CFO

We’re seeking a Manager, Finance & Accounting to oversee our accounting operations, guide a small but high-performing team, and ensure financial accuracy and compliance across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline (required)
  • CPA designation (required)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a financial management or leadership role
  • Proven strategic planning and operational improvement experience at the management level
  • Minimum 5 years’ IFRS reporting experience
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
  • Experience writing and interpreting technical documents such as SOPs

Responsibilities
  • Lead the preparation of accurate, timely management financial statements and reports for executive review.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Manage and mentor a small team of accountants and finance professionals.
  • Conduct revenue analysis and manage monthly payroll entries, reconciliations, and variance reporting.
  • Serve as the expert user for multiple finance and accounting systems, driving effective utilization and training.
  • Lead the month-end close process while identifying opportunities to streamline workflows.
  • Prepare and file EHT and WSIB returns and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements.
  • Champion process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability in finance operations.
  • Strengthen internal controls by improving review and sign-off processes and ensuring audit-ready documentation for all journal entries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system enhancements and special projects.
  • Support the CFO in strategic planning and ad-hoc financial analysis.
