POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are a fast paced, growing new home building company looking for an experienced and highly motivated Accounting Manager to join our management team in Vaughan, Ontario.
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, accounting operations, and compliance. You will work closely with the Accounting Team to ensure timely and accurate financial statements, maintain strong internal controls, and provide strategic financial analysis that help drive key business decisions.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in Business/Accounting, with advanced degree or professional designation (CA, CPA, CGA, CMA) preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in similar area.
  • Strong understanding of accounting standards and construction accounting practices, banking processes and financial data analysis.
  • Management and/or supervisory experience.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, problem solving, and organizational skills are essential.
  • Strong working knowledge of Jonas Software, Caseware, MS Office and Excel would be preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive financial reporting and monthly updates to senior management of current projects.
  • Prepare annual financial statements and supporting working paper file.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly/quarterly/yearly closings, including analyzing and

reconciling general ledgers.

  • Report on financial performance and variances to budget by project.
  • Review and analyze job cost by project.
  • Provide cash flow budgets and forecasts.
  • Manage bank balances, wire transfers and validity of bank transactions.
  • Prepare working papers for tax team to complete all tax compliance work.
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize the protection of company assets, policies, procedures and enforce internal controls.
  • Maintain and update all records for fixed assets and land inventory.
  • Manage required government reporting and deadlines.
  • Review cheque payments and ensure proper approvals, accuracy, and documentation.
  • Prepare and manage master budget for company expenses and identifying any variances.
  • Hiring, training, mentoring and supervising accounting staff.
